Caribbean University, Carolina
In 1969, Caribbean Junior College, the predecessor institution of Caribbean University, was founded in the city of Bayamón, Puerto Rico. This is characterized as a private, non-profit, co-educational and non-sectarian educational institution. Currently the University consists of the Central Administration, the Bayamón Campus and three centers in Carolina, Vega Baja and Ponce. Due to the convenient geographic location of each academic unit, Caribbean University adequately serves a large part of the population of Puerto Rico.
It was authorized by the Puerto Rico Higher Education Council to offer associate degrees in 1974 and baccalaureate degrees in 1978. In 1977, it received its first accreditation from the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, while its second Center began operations.
