Rockhurst University
The spirit behind Rockhurst University was born in 1521 when a Spanish soldier took a cannonball in the leg at Pamplona. That soldier, later to be known as St. Ignatius of Loyola, used his recovery period to develop his spirituality and approach to life. That new spirituality led to the formation of the Society of Jesus. The subsequent Jesuit tradition of service to others through a liberal education has been renowned worldwide for more than 450 years.
A commitment to academic excellence and community service has marked Rockhurst’s path. Today the University serves approximately 3,000 students. Both bachelor’s and graduate degree programs feature the lifelong liberal arts learning approach that is a hallmark of Jesuit education.

Library: The library has a computer for the visually impaired. Patrons who need specialized equipment for word processing, internet access and other applications are encouraged to use this computer. The computer is located on the main level of the library. The library staff will be happy to assist people with disabilities in selection and gathering of library materials when needed. If you contact a librarian before you come to the library, we will try to have materials waiting for you. Contact the library for more information.
Accommodation: Your resident hall can also serve as a support system — residents, mostly freshman, are probably facing many the same challenges you are, with new teachers, new classes, new subjects and new adjustments. Making these dorm friends makes the transition into college that much easier, and many of these people will be your friends for the next four years and beyond. Our campus living is traditional dorm life, with resident assistants on each floor and resident directors in each hall. Find your perfect home away from home by joining the campus community through college residential life.
Activities: At Rockhurst University, a residence hall is more than just a place to live. It’s a place to learn. By living and interacting with diverse types of people in campus housing, you’ll take your education beyond the classroom. Living on campus allows you to fully bloom as a Rockhurst Hawk. You’ll meet new people, participate in extracurricular activities, and have a group to attend events with.
